Intern turned employee featured in SciTechMN article
With more clients coming in, the team at NDS decided to post an Analytical Chemistry Intern position through the SciTech Job board, to assist with their growing workload. There they connected with Emily Stephens, a biochemistry major at the University of St. Thomas.
Interested in medicine, but with a pharma application, Stephens was drawn to the opportunity at NDS and quickly secured a position there over the summer. Her internship acted as a training period where she could familiarize herself with the company, the machinery and the process. By the time fall came around, NDS extended an offer for Stephens to continue working part-time, which she gladly accepted.
“Now I know what I’m expected to do and have a set plan. I don’t have to ask as many questions and when I arrive I get right into work,” Stephens said confidently.

Marinkovich jumped from Cargill to hemp
A Burnsville business owner who left agricultural giant Cargill to launch a cannabis-based business is now regarded as one of Minnesota’s experts on the subject.
Kyle Marinkovich is a member of the state’s Cannabis Advisory Council, which will make recommendations on cannabis policy to Minnesota’s new Office of Cannabis Management. The appointment was announced last month by Gov. Tim Walz.
Marinkovich, 48, spent 14 years with Cargill managing the sale and commercial development of food ingredients — mostly health-conscious oils used in deep fryers.

Today, as CEO of Northern Diversified Solutions, the company he founded in 2019, he churns out soluble cannabinoids for use in products ranging from cookies, ice cream and soft drinks to mints, gummies and chocolates.
